4. Here's the latest information (Aug. 22) on the concert series administration:
"Concert packets will be available for purchase online beginning Mon, Sept. 8 (fingers crossed) through a link on the Music/Dance website - http://music.sdsu.edu/. Packet sales will end Sun, Sept 21. Please encourage students to buy packets online to avoid the long lines at the box office.
For students who don't have a credit/debit card, the box office will be open from 11am-2pm, Mon. Sept 8- Fri. Sept 12, and Mon. Sept 15-Fri. Sept 19. After that date, the box office will only be open one hour before each performance, not throughout the day. Packets WILL NOT be available for sale the night of the first concert."
3. Individual attendance tracking will be done this semester by scanning student's SDSU I.D. card after the student has presented her/his ticket to enter Smith Recital Hall. Please bring your individual ticket and your SDSU I.D. card to each concert. Students will be able to log into a web site and check their attendance record for the semester. Students should plan to arrive slightly before the listed concert time as lines are an inevitable part of the process. Hopefully, the lines will go quickly with the card-scanning process. Students that arrive late to a concert will receive partial credit for attending the concert.
4. All of the concerts are scheduled for Monday evenings (6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) and will be held in J. Dayton Smith Recital Hall. Students will choose one of the times to attend on a regular basis as the two concerts will consist of the same content. All concerts will last 45-50 minutes. Concert attendance times have been included in the time allotment for the course.
5. All concerts have been organized to coordinate with several sections of Music 345. As an integral part of the course, the concerts are designed to cover a wide range of music, and are loosely coordinated with the lectures. You should plan to attend all ten (10) concerts. Should you miss one of the ten concerts for illness or any other reason, a maximum of one make-up concert may be substituted, which is the Big Band Jazz concert.
6. If, in the unlikely event that one of the regularly scheduled concerts of the SDSU World Music Concert Series is canceled, you will be issued a voucher that is good for any other Fall 2004 concert sponsored by the SDSU School of Music and Dance, and the concert that you choose to attend will be acceptable as one of the ten concerts required for M345.
7. Smith Recital Hall Box Office is located on the North East corner of the ground floor of the Music and Dance building. From M113, exit the North-facing door of the room, turn right and walk to the North East corner of the building at which you will find the Smith Recital Hall Box Office and Smith Recital Hall. From M245, exit the North-facing door to the outside of the Music building, descend the stairs to the left, and walk to the Smith Recital Hall Box Office to the right on the outside of the building.
8. Availability of the 6 p.m. concert, which is traditionally popular with students, is not guaranteed. It is recommended that students buy their concert tickets early to be able to enjoy the 6 p.m. concert time.
