ORLANDO DE LASSUS (c. 1532-1594) - Lassus (also Orlando di Lasso), a church composer from the Netherlands, became head of Duke Albrecht V of Bavaria's chapel in 1556. His musical genius was applied equally to the madrigal, the chanson, and lied.
